Who WE are

Potter Excavations is a family business that has been servicing the Western NSW region for over 40 Years. Working out of Balranald since the 1980's the business has grown with the local area over the years to become the leading construction business in the Shire.

With experience in Agriculture, Mining, Roadworks and Water Infrastructure, Potter Excavations has an impressive history of delivering large scale projects including mine haul roads, large scale storage dams, major channel works, flood recovery works and, irrigation and pipeline construction.

Our Directors are owner operators, Rocky, Nathan and Ben spend the majority of their time in the field, in machines, controlling works and quality the best way they know how, by getting in the trenches and working together.

Our Business is based around legacy, and our customer relationships are the backbone of the company. We are problem solvers who use innovative approaches to find solutions to difficult projects and we love a challenge. Our team embraces innovation, with the vast majority of our fleet being GPS equipped through Trimble. Drone technology also forms a large part of our scoping and monitoring across our projects.

Meet Our Leaders

Potter Excavations is a true family business, we are proud of our country roots, our local impact and the reputation the business has developed over the 40+ years of operation in the Balranald and wider Murray Region.


  • Founder

    A well known longstanding member of the Balranald community, Rocky has been the leader of the Potters team for over 40 years. He is an expert in culvert, drainage, pipelines and water infrastructure. Rocky has been the heart and soul of the Potters team for as long as it has been around and his commitment to the business and local community is the standard that we all strive to achieve.


  • Managing Director

    With over 25 years of industry experience, Nathan is the driving force behind Potter Excavations. Nathan focuses on large scale projects as well as overseeing the strategic direction of the business. Nathan’s deep knowledge of earthworks, civil construction and project management act as a foundation for the business to deliver the level of quality that our clients have come to expect over the years.

  • Director

    Ben is an experienced earthmover and truck driver, calling on over 22 years experience in the industry, Ben drives our growth in the agriculture sector as well as overseeing the management and maintenance of the fleet of over 100 machines and vehicles the business owns. Ben’s care for the fleet ensures our machines are in order and always ready for their next job.
